Travel good; lone travel less good

I realized after I had been here a day or so that this was the first time I had traveled anywhere by myself where I wasn't expected or planning to meet anyone. I have to say I am thinking that I will have to do things differently in the future. Few things are as uncomfortable as being both profoundly lonely and profoundly disinclined to talk to strangers. So if I do this again I'm going to have to make an effort to do it with people, and I am rarely comfortable doing that. This whole trip has been remarkably out of my comfort zone, which is probably why I'm exhausted today and contemplating skipping my second day at the zoo. I got sunburned yesterday in spite of my precautions but today is cooler so more clothes are likely to be more comfortable. In any case I need to get off the computer and figure out what I am or am not doing.
