Torchwood buzz

I was delighted to find an article entitled Hail the return of the alien hunter on the front page of the Lifestyle section, under the heading Watch This for the premiere of Season 2 tomorrow at 9 p.m.

While it is more than just a blurb - it's continued inside and gets what I'd call a reasonable amount of space for a "science fiction soap opera" - the article (of course) focuses on the "office romance and ill-fated, interspecies love affairs" instead of the mystery/alien tech/saving the world SF aspects. But if that's what it takes to get the series some publicity, I'll take what I can get.

For Buffy the Vampire Slayer fen, James Marsters (nee Spike) will have a role in the season opener. The PI is running an interview Marsters gave TV Guide where he talks about playing Captain John Hart, Captain Jack's former partner (yes) before Jack reformed. It's nice to see a Buffy alum doing something besides cringe-worthy SCIFI channel original movies (a la Amber Benson in Gryphon. Which I tried to watch, really I did. Just couldn't do it.). I really appreciate the Sci-Fi channel for some things, but when they say Saturday is the scariest night on television, lately it's been more that the movies are frighteningly bad rather than actually frightening.

So, now you know where I will be Saturday night.
