at Les Schwab

Now, why am I at Les Schwab, you might be thinking? Well, we got the car from the shop this morning, without getting the air conditioning fixed but with having the AC taken out of the loop so we can drive the car home. That seemed like the most effective option, since both mom and I are running out of medication and need to get home. It's cooler today so we figured it was worth a try to just head home. We left La Grande about noon, but when we got on the road the car was vibrating badly, so we v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y drove into Pendleton, OR, to the Les Schwab that we had seen a billboard for while discussing what we should do.

Apparently we were lucky, since one of the tires had the rubber separating from the core. It turns out the tires on the car were the studless snow tires, and since it has been so hot out, and they are designed for low temperatures, the tire started to break down. It could have blown out on us very easily.

So we are replacing the tires with all-seasonal tires, and hope to be back on the road again soon. Maybe by 4 p.m. I was hoping we could get home tonight but it is really hard to say at this point...
