The idiots of the world are not my problem.
At least in the sense that I can't allow news of their exploits to drive me into depression/drinking. To which end I should probably simply avoid the "news" altogether, but that always feels like ignoring a problem in hopes it will go away, a classic strategy of failure.
The point of terrafactive armageddon is that the earth itself will abide, whether or not humans make its environs unsuitable for their own personal survival. The stars will still shine, the universe will still tick along. It's bleak, but it's where I always find hope when I can't find it anywhere else.
