autistic, that's me

Oddly enough, I got an email this morning announcing I had been shanghaied into the Autisms group on Google. "A safe place free from folks who are not autistic but pretend to be." Well, considering that I am not now, nor have I ever been autistic, I found this to be a trifle surprising.

So, apparently, did the other 1200 people the owner had enrolled without permission.

If you've been online for any length of time at all, you can envision what happened next: the slew of "what the hell?" and "UNSUBSCRIBE" emails that promptly began to fill up my inbox.

It strikes me as the damnedest thing, because the group owner seems very pissy about people who aren't really autistic polluting the space of whatever other usenet group he/she created this group in response to, then they sign up 1200 random strangers? WTF? Ah well, not my problem any more, to the best of my knowledge...
