yesterday evening

I went up to Bellingham with grouchychris for bookish_girl_ & James' housewarming at the House of Stairs. The payoff for the six (or was it seven) flights one must climb from the bottom of the hill to the top of the house is an amazing view, even on an overcast rainy night. On a clear day I can imagine it would be spectacular. It is quite possibly the highest point in Bellingham, it is certainly the highest built thing, and I couldn't quite tell if you're higher up than the top of the arboretum hill or not - rainy and overcast, as I said.

I got to meet their lovely cats - Fidget, who reminds me (and a number of other folks) of Morphia, came and curled up on my lap for a while to prove my strange affinity with stripey cats.

We left about 2 a.m. - and I must admit with shame that I slept most of the way home. I don't imagine I was terribly scintillating company. Although there are some people (waves at the Silver Mist collective) who claim I can be highly entertaining in my sleep, so perhaps I am selling myself short in the slumbering companion department...
