I was incommunicado from about 11:30 a.m. onward due to work commitments, so I missed all the messages about his surgery time being moved up. Thus I had a moment of unpleasant shock when I arrived at his room around 2 p.m. to find it empty...
A quick trip to the nurses station straightened everything out, though. Around five they brought him back to the room, and he felt well enough to catch me up on the schedule changes and so forth. Then they came and filled him full of painkillers, after which he was able to get a little sleep.
Ted came out after he got off work and since Chris was sleeping, we left to get some food. We came back just before eight and stayed the last half hour chatting, since he was awake again.
He was recovered enough to be complaining that he wanted to check email and read Live Journal as we were leaving...
