As in I have enough cushion in my finances that for the first time in my life I wasn't mentally holding my breath until my paycheck posted. So when I looked at my register online this morning, I was surprised to see the credit, and had to double-check the date to be certain it was today.
Of course a big chunk of that cushion is earmarked. But still. I can't recall any other time in my life where I haven't been at least marginally aware and expectant of being paid. Still, I'm nowhere near my old coworker who not only didn't have direct deposit, she just let her checks pile up, sitting in their envelopes unopened. She'd take a wad of them into the bank every so often. Very different economic class from that which I have ever been privileged to inhabit. *nod*
