  • Mood:
I just woke up out of one of those all-consuming elaborate dreams, full of little rituals that have been repeated thousands of times in a strangely comforting manner. There is usually an almost folk-tale like thread of story that accompanies the action, as though I am dreaming the staging of a myth.

This one involved a little girl (who I usually inhabited as the viewpoint character) who comes to live with a Basque immigrant family in the farming area around one of the cities in the Maritime provinces of Canada. (Those sorts of details come out in thinking about it later, not by thrusting themselves into my awareness at the time). On waking I can see a large part of it comes from the book The Good Master by Kate Seredy.

In any case, if I sit still too long, my eyes close and I'm back there. No horses in my version, though.
