09:58 pm - the needle on the horizon, part 2
Now, just at sunset's last reflection in the east, it all lights up like static fireworks, my view of Queen Anne and the Needle. Or an inverse field of stars, twinkling in the haze, fallen to earth and leaving the sky's indigo swath empty above.

It's mine, this view - though I've shared the thought of it now, it still feels framed for only me. An odd possessiveness lurks beneath my notice of the giant E marking the Edgewater Inn - what is it with this town and neon letters of enormous size? - and the tv towers exchanging winks with each other and the obviated light atop the not-quite-centerpiece.

Some nights I've seen the EMP building catch flame with the western light, and be damned if for a moment it isn't actually beautiful.

On a summer date in Boulevard Park one night, we saw this green glowing sign down by the Marina, and decided to investigate. We drove down by the docks and wandered around, searching for the green neon letters. ICE, it said.
