The BBC is doing a talking points series on AIDS that is chilling.

It appears there is a long-standing cultural belief in something called 'the virgin cure'. That is, sex with a virgin will cure diseases (especially sexually transmitted ones). Including (if not especially) HIV/AIDS. The younger the virgin, the more potent the cure.

I'm sure you can follow this one to its natural conclusion, nasty as it is.

Then there's the bit about using a condom means you don't trust your partner.

I can't write about this. I vacillate between lividity and despair.
