bits and pieces

Apparently the East Coast shuts down for Yom Kippur. Huh. My bogglement proves I'm from around here even more than the webbing between my toes, apparently. I'm trying to think if there is an equivalently widely observed religious holiday out this way, with no luck. [By which I mean one which isn't 'official' (like, say, Christmas) but might as well be as everything grinds to a halt from people taking it off.]

The blacksmithing class was a lot of fun. I signed up to be notified for the intermediate workshop, when it occurs. In the interim, I need to start lifting weights - my forearms have been feeling it, and typing is still a bit of a chore. I'll probably ramble about this more later.

Mom signed the lease at Overlake on Saturday. There are times when she seems so incredibly frail that I want to drop everything else and devote the entirety of my time to making her life easier/better. I think I do a fairly good job of keeping a happy medium between taking care of myself and of her without infringing on either of our native capabilities too much.

Work is duller than dishwater. Used dishwater, mind you - none of that sudsy bubble excitement. Speaking of which, time to haul myself off to.
