another Monday rumbles to a close

I have a class at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Yes, 6:00 a.m. I love East Coast event organizers who are completely oblivious. This means I am going to try to be in at 5:30 a.m. so I have some hope of being settled and awake by when it's time to log in. No, actually I'm aiming at 5:30 so I have the shred of a chance of hauling myself into the office by 6 when the class officially begins. The sick sad thing is that's my coworker Helen's normal start time. So if I doze off into my keyboard she'll be there to pitch something over the cubicle wall to wake me up.

Spent the weekend being largely useless. Somewhere along the line I've misplaced my aptitude for... groups? mixed groups (friends/not-friends)? groups where I don't know what I'm doing? I'm not sure. I can only partly blame being disoriented due to dreaming that my consciousness had been split into two bodies where the handedness had also been reversed - I fell asleep on my arm, which then also 'fell asleep' which I'm sure was the dream's genesis. Not only did I fail to make any connection between the planned activity and the necessary accouterments, I only made it out of town with the absolute necessities due to extreme sufferance on the part of grouchychris. Once on site I still couldn't communicate terribly well, and was far from helpful. I did have a minor epiphany; watching the gamut of helpers in various attitudes of enjoyment or duty, it forcibly struck me why I've never particularly wanted property of my own. I don't really get any pleasure from householder-y type activities. I don't particularly hate any of them, but I don't really enjoy them either. sharkins by contrast was totally into it - what was fun was watching her zoom around the place.

I also really enjoyed the ride there and back again, speaking of zooming. Though given the traffic, there wasn't quite as much of that as there might have been. I never get tired of the mountains on Highway 2. I need a more aerodynamic sun-hat, though, I've definitely decided.

So now I lay me down to sleep, in some sort of vain attempt to be up at 0-dark-thirty tomorrow. It's going to be a long day by the time I hit UW for the Delaney reading...
