I can't argue too much - it is nice to be able to put faces with names, and I find it much easier to identify voices on conference calls once I've met the people they are attached to, for some reason. (My memory is primarily visual? Who knows.) It also makes a certain amount of sense from a business standpoint as there are some types of mandatory briefings or training that it's easier to conduct in person. Stuff where you have to sign off on a paper that you attended, that sort of thing.
I especially don't mind now that I'm trying to collect enough frequent flyer miles to visit quixoticfish sometime between now and the heat-death of the universe.
I'm kind of wondering how gnarly things are going to be at the airport. There was a transit alert last week that mentioned something about a re-route of the Metro busses - I forget the details but it did inspire me to make arrangements to be picked up by the shuttle rather than take the 194 like I've done the last couple of times. I'm tempted to try the web check-in feature, but my printer is out of ink, so I'll have to leave that adventure for another time.
So now I'm doing that last-minute "what am I forgetting?" brain-wracking.
I should be able to get into livejournal while I'm down there, but there's no guarantee - so if things go dark it probably isn't because anything dire has happened. On the other hand, if things stay dark much past Friday, you might want to send out the hounds...
