damn it!

I think I may have discovered why these flannel pants were such a deal. After 1 wearing, the fabric on the front seam of the blue pair (NOT the mighty pink kitty-face pair, thankfully) has pulled out. Not the stitching, the fabric itself. Sigh. Time to get set up the sewing machine, it would seem. I think the problem can be alleviated with a patch to take some of the stress from the area (did I mention I carry my weight on my hips?) but I'm not sure I have anything that will serve. Hmm...

perseid meteors this weekend

The Perseid meteor shower is going on, it should be peaking this weekend. As the new moon was yesterday, the viewing should be pretty good. I wonder if any of my vehicle-enhanced friends would be interested in trying to go out where the lights are less intrusive to do some star-gazing in the next couple of three days... the best viewing is after midnight, so you graveyard shift people should keep an eye out. Perseus is the constellation from which the meteors radiate; it's supposed to be near Cassiopeia, which is also known as the big W (or M, to be topologically neutral).

free! sort of.

To celebrate his birthday, my boss is letting us out early. Pity I have an appointment at 4:30 p.m. I have to stay in the neighborhood for. It's ok, I'm sure I can waste plenty of time in Magic Mouse toys. [I'm marginally less likely to wound my pocketbook there than I am at Elliot Bay.]

when in the course of human events...

Some people get blood all over the living room; I get coffee all over the kitchen. They're both vital fluids, what. Can't say I know of any specifically coffee-borne illnesses, though. No hazmat team for me today.

Magic Mouse Toys did indeed provide - I now own my very own copy of Millions of Cats. Of course, this calls for a Reading Party. The problem is venue; if I held it here in my very small apartment it would have to be very limited in population or people would have to get very cozy. If I limit the invitations I'm sure to have to leave out someone who would like to come, and that's no good. I have four chairs, a couch that seats three or four, depending on hip width, two stools and a double bed, the latter set of three items being something not everyone would be comfortable occupying. Plus the floor, but there's not an almighty lot of that left, at this point. Hmm - ten or twelve people is certainly about the proper size (otherwise it takes all night to get through everyone's selections) but... well, it bears cogitation. On the other hand, in terms of personal space I think it would feel crowded after about five... *ponder*

Maybe I'll take a wee nap before tonight's festivities, now.
