Hmm. I wonder if I need to call the hazardous weather line this morning. That's how they've chosen to communicate the building status, whether it's closed due to snowflakes, typhoons or protesters. I can hear a helicopter out there hovering - it could be one of the traffic watches, but they are usually fly-bys...

Actually it isn't a *whup* sound so much as a low throbbing hum at this distance. But there's a particular frequency and pitch-shift to it that's pretty diagnostic. I've never actually heard a dog make the noise "arf" either - nevertheless, dogs say arf and helicopters say whup, and you have to recognize that coding if you want to be understood.
