old socks, begone!

I suppose it's only fair to the vintners of the Solstice wine I wrote about earlier to mention that the musty tang had quite disappeared after the bottle had been open for a while. That's the first time I've had allowing the wine to "breathe" result in a noticeable change in flavor or bouquet. Though properly speaking my experience reflects far more on the inadequacies of my palate than any characteristics of any wine I've tasted.

Ooh, perhaps 'erpsig' was the flavor name I was searching for? No, alas - I would put earthy and potato-like in two different categories.
