Robert L. Forward died yesterday morning. Physicist, science-fiction author, and one of the sweetest people I've ever dealt with as a convention organizer. Another one of the folks lured to the northwest by VikingCon, I think. I'd heard he had brain cancer not too long ago.

One of the sucky things about being an adult is realizing how volatile the world is. Everything you love is ephemeral, and will die. No wonder people invent religions.
