There appears to be a police officer currently assigned to the Alaska/California Junction solely to ticket cars ignoring the NO TURN ON RED stricture. As a pedestrian who finds that business about Walk All Ways With WALK nerve-wracking already from cognitive dissonance, I applaud loudly. I wonder if the similarly zoned intersection downtown at the Pike Place Market has an officer, too?

Yeah, for a while there was a motorcycle cop giving tickets to the idiots who drove in the bus lane on the West Seattle Bridge. I felt like cheering every time I saw someone pulled over.

I don't know; I hope so, and as a driver who tries to turn at that corner quite often, I sure hope said officer will be ticketing the jaywalkers who glare at me for wanting to turn while they have a red light and I don't. I admit that said intersection is counterintuitive, but would it kill people to read a sign or two?

I hear you, and agree! It's the kind of thing that only works when all parties pay the f*** attention, IMuHO.

To be honest, I could go on and on about people not reading, esp. wrt signs, but I suspect I would be talking to the already convinced.

I was going to mention that, too. I'm all for yielding to pedestrians but it drives me nuts when hordes of tourists assume that the green applies to them.
