We are housed! or semi-housed, at least. Our proto-landlord called last night to ask me a couple of questions, and then say he'd decided to rent it to us. yay!
I only say proto- and half- since we have not signed any papers yet, but that will come later this week. (I'm unclear as to what it means exactly in legal terms, but if the check I gave him clears before we get the agreement signed I'll count that as the status upgrade as well.)
Thanks to all who crossed appendages for us; now I need to know where best to find a stone buddha appropriate for a garden setting. There is a tree in the back yard that needs one.

If I wanted a stone Buddha I would go to the International District, possibly starting with Uwajimaya.

statuary sale

(Link)
There is a statuary place in Ballard that is having an AWESOME sale through the end of the month. We bought a pretty good sized stone buddha for I think $59, and a set of fu dogs for $125, which is WAY less than anywhere else I've seen. (everything is 1/2 off their normal prices and this doesn't seem to be a place where they jack up the prices before they slash them) Let me know if you're interested and I'll dig up the address! :)

No... I think that was one of the more expensive places we tried first. This was just some random place that has had flyers on telephone poles around the Ballard/Fremont area. Sorry I don't remember the name, but I will get the location from my less directionally-challenged boyfriend and get back to you! :P

Okay, it's across the street from the shilshole bay marina. I remember driving south alongside the marina for a while, and then finally coming across the statuary place on the left.

Aha, also it's showing up as 'Abbondanza' on my credit card statement, and I googled this address which looks about right: 6300 Seaview Ave Nw. :)

Hurray! I was just going to tell you that I was crossing appendages for you, too.

I was about to suggest David Smith Co. for the Buddha, but I'm thinking now that I might need to take a trip to slacker_kae's Ballard place myself. That sounds like a great deal.
